Nonfiction works by South Asian American writers
Biography, essays, even an awesome cookbook — this category may be too broad, but that's nothing new for South Asian Americans. Great gifts include Tan France's awesomely titled Naturally Tan, Priya Krishna's Indian-ish: Recipes and Antics from a Modern American Family, and the illustrated portrait book Turbans and Tales. A very compelling memoir, Unbecoming, is written by Anuradha Bhagwati, a Yale grad and former Marine officer.
